"It starts with color, shadow, ray of light, moment, sight, feeling, thing, form, composition, detail, place, touch, beauty."

Yaroslav Klochkov, photographer, curator, artist, theorist, teacher, was born in Yaroslavl. He started taking photographs at the age of 8, his first camera was "Smena 8m". The first works were portraits of family members in nature. Photography followed through his entire life from an early age. Before completely leaving for photography, Yaroslav traveled a lot because of the specifics of his work. He has been a travel photographer for many years. From 2012 to 2022 he lived and worked in the city of Moscow, where he began his career as a fashion photographer, at the same time he starts working in street photography. In 2018, the focus of his work turned towards art projects. He began to work more on personal projects reflecting his thoughts, views on life and society. In 2019, he created his own photography course based on the theories of world art, personal experience and an individual approach. Five students are permanently employed in this program. at the end of 2020, Yaroslav starts working in his own genre of photography, which he calls "documentary fiction". Only at the end of 2022 will he write the program text of this direction in photography. At the beginning of 2022, he moves to Kazakhstan, to the city of Almaty. In the period from March 2022 to January 2023, he collaborates a lot with organizations in the field of culture and art in the city of Almaty and Kazakhstan as a whole. There he begins to work as an independent curator and further delves into educational activities in the field of art. In November 2022, she becomes a photography curator at the Art lab, an educational art residency at DOM 36, with the support of the Goethe Institute. In the summer of 2022, Yaroslav meets the troupe of the independent theater Art&Shock and has been working on a personal art project based on the theater for more than six months.

He works a lot with the multi-layered personality, transitional periods and states, as well as on the "transformations" / "changes" that occur in the images of people and in the state of things over time. His personal feelings, relationships and visual experience, throughout his life, began to be transferred to the basis of his photographic series of works, where we see people, things and space around others, enclosed in an image and devoid of figurative meaning. At the time of shooting, Yaroslav completely renounces a personal relationship to the subject, whether it is a person close to him or a piece of furniture. It is this approach that allows him to achieve the maximum documentary perception, which in itself leads to a pure presentation of the relationship between the author and the object. The principles of Yaroslav's work in photography are based on the rejection of the internal dialogue with oneself during the shooting and the development of the photography reflex. Yaroslav believes in the principle that space is born and organized at the moment of looking at it. The main thing for him is the moment, time, thought, the state of things and the feeling of the moment in space, content, proportions of forms and balance.
